Day 1: Pickup in Kigali and City Tour.

Detailed Itineraries 10 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Wildlife Safari.
Day 1: Pickup in Kigali and City Tour.
Arrive in Kigali & City Tour: Following your arrival, you will be welcomes by our company representative together with the guide and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali OR, depending on your time of arrival, enjoy a brief tour of Kigali city including Kimironko market and the Genocide memorials and transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Kigali City Blue Hotel, Kigali Serena.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Game Drive.
Transfer to Akagera & Game Drive: Have breakfast and transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and later embark on the a game drive in the park where you will get an opportunity to see a variety of wildlife in the park like zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, Sitatunga, waterbucks, impala, and other rare sightings like lions, leopards and cheetahs.
Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge/ Karenge Bush Camp/ Magashi Tented Camp.
Day 3: Morning Boat Cruise and Transfer to Kigali.
Morning Boat Cruise: Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your lodge and then head out for a morning boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Transfer to Nyungwe National Park: Have your breakfast and then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Enjoy the scenic views around Lake Kivu on your way to the park. You will have a stopover at the King’s Palace and Museum in Butare. Have lunch in Butare and then proceed with your journey to the park.
Upon your arrival in Nyungwe, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guesthouse/ Nyungwe Hill Top View/ Nyungwe One & Only.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk.
Chimpanzee Trekking : Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3- 4 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
Canopy Walk: After lunch, you will embark on a guided nature walk that will take you to the Canopy Walk, a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 6: Visit Gisakura Tea Estate and Transfer to Karongi
Visit Gisakura Tea Estate: After having your delicious breakfast, you can head out for a tour of Gisakura Tea Estate. You will get an opportunity to tour tea plantations and also tea processing plants. At the end of it all, you will get to taste some of Rwanda’s finest tea.
Transfer to Karongi: Arrival in Karongi, you will do a boat trip to Amahoro islands and visit to Environmental museum. Overnight in Karongi.
Day 7: Transfer to Rubavu Town.
Morning transfer to Rubavu: Have your breakfast at leisure and drive to Rubavu town. En route, view the Kivu belt of Lake Kivu and do a 2 hours tour in Rubavu town with hike to Mt.Rubavu. Afterwards, visit the Potters Community and head to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze for dinner and overnight at Muhabura/ Le Bambou/ Five Volcanoes Lodge
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Gorilla Trekking: Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the ORTPN officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This experience of gorilla tracking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours since the gorillas move up and down.
This is an awesome and exciting moment. En route there are a lot of chimpanzees and other types of the primates such as the monkeys, birds and so more. Return for lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon, visit the Karisoke research center and the graves of Diane Fossey a woman who was murdered because she was protecting these endangered mountain Gorillas. Return for dinner and overnight same as previous night.
Day 9: Dian Fossey Hike and Iby’iwacu Cultural Village.
Dian Fossey Hike : Have your breakfast early morning from your lodge and then head out to Volcanoes National Park where you will embark on a hiking expedition to Dian Fossey’s tomb, an American primatologist and conservationist, whose scientific studies on Mountain Gorilla Groups in Volcanoes National Park has given us a better understanding of these primate species. You will have the opportunity to learn more about her life and scientific study up until her death. She was murdered on 26th December 1985 in her camp in Volcanoes National Park and was laid near her favorite gorilla ‘Digit,’ along with 20 other mountain gorillas. Aside from her grave site, you will also pay a visit to the Karisoke Research Centre which she used as a base for carrying out most of her scientific studies with the help of her staff. Reconnect with your guide at the park headquarters and drive back to your lodge for lunch.
Iby’iwacu Community Visit: After having your lunch, meet up with your guide at the park’s headquarters and proceed with your drive to the popular Iby’iwacu community village which is located just outside the national park. This community is filled with individuals who were once poachers who have reformed and now actively participate in conservation projects that are run in the park. Visiting the Iby’iwacu community village is a good way to experience the Rwanda culture through music, dance and drumming performances from the local intore dance group.
Later drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer Back to Kigali and Departure.
Transfer back to Kigali: Today marks the last day of your 10 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Wildlife safari with us! Have breakfast at leisure from your hotel and then check out. Your guide will then transfer you back to Kigali city, where upon your arrival in the city, you can decide to embark on a brief tour of the city. This will give you the opportunity to visit the places that you had earlier missed out at the start of your tour. Later, you can have your guide drop you off at the airport where you will board your flight back home. End of Tour.
