Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Arrival in Kigali & City Tour: On Day 1 of this 2 Days Mount Bisoke Hiking Safari, you will be picked by your guide from Kigali international airport. After a brief meet and greet session, you with will embark on a tour of Kigali city where you will visit interesting cultural and historical sites like; Kigali Genocide Memorial, Caplaki Craft Village, Nyamirambo Women’s Center, and Camp Kigali Memorial Center to mention but a few. After your tour of Kigali City, have lunch and proceed with your transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Transfer to Volcanoes: Transfer to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri district in the northeastern part of Rwanda. The national park is located about 106km from Kigali city. It will take you about 2½ hours to get to the park. Upon your arrival in Volcanoes national park, check into lodge and refresh yourself.

Iby’iwacu Cultural Tour: Later meet up with your guide and drive to Iby’iwacu village which is located within close proximity from the park. This community is filled with individuals who were once poachers who have reformed and now actively participate in conservation projects that are run in the park. Visiting the Iby’iwacu community village is a good way to experience the Rwanda culture through music, dance and drumming performances from the local intore dance group. You will also get a chance to learn more about the indigenous cultures in Rwanda.

Drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Hike Mount Bisoke and Transfer Back to Kigali.

Hike Mount Bisoke: Wake early in the morning and have breakfast at your lodge. Your guide will drive you to the park headquarters in Kinigi where you will be briefed by the head ranger at the park. Hiking expeditions on Mount Bisoke take about four hours and offer hikers breath-taking views of Rwanda’s captivating scenery and splendid wildlife-including amazing bird species which you can spot along your hiking trails. Lucky hikers may also stumble upon a gorilla group during your hike to the mountain summit. The highlight of your hike on Mount Bisoke will be the beautiful Crater Lake at the summit of the mountain. Have your lunch and prepare to exit the park.

Transfer Back to Kigali: After your lunch, you will drive back to Kigali city where you can have your guide/driver drop you off at your preferred hotel or at Kigali International Airport where you will await to board your flight back home.
