Detailed Itinerary for 2 Days Nyungwe Canopy Walk and Zip Lining Tour
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe- Stopover at Nyanza King’s Palace and Butare National Museum.
In the morning, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and embark on a 6 hours’ drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover visit to the King’s Palace in Nyanza and national museum in Butare and then have lunch enroute to the park. Arrive in Nyungwe in the evening and connect to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure; and later have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Canopy Walkway Bridge, Zip Lining and Transfer Back to Kigali.
On Day 2 of your 2 Days Nyungwe Canopy Walk and zip lining tour in Rwanda, you will have an early breakfast at your lodge and then drive to the park’s briefing point. Once you have registered and completed your briefing, you will be assigned a park ranger and embark on your hike to the canopy walkway bridge. This hike takes approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace. It takes you to a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees; about 90 meters above the forest floor. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you.
After your visit to the canopy walkway bridge, you will also embark on zip line course which is among the highlights of any visit to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Zip-lining in Nyungwe Forest National Park is a newly introduced activity in the park and offers visitors a unique experience as well as panoramic views of the forest. The zip line is one of the longest zip lines in Africa, measuring a total of 1935 meters in length and about 20 to 50 meters above ground. The first section of the zip line in Nyungwe forest is 335 meters long and the second is 580 meters long. The last zip line, which is the longest, is 1020 meters and is perfect for adrenaline lovers.
Upon completion of the zip line challenge, you will head back to base and meet up with your driver guide. Have lunch and drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, as you will advise.
