3 Days Kidepo Wildlife Safari: This is a 3 days Uganda safari to Kidepo Valley national park, located in the far northeastern part of Uganda. The 3 days Kidepo national park safari will give you the opportunity to explore wildlife in the park, as well as the park’s beautiful and vast savannah landscape. Some of the wildlife animals to look out for while in the park include; lions, zebra, duikers, buffalos, eland, the greater and lesser Kudu, spotted hyenas, bush pigs, bushbuck, black-backed and side-striped jackals to mention but a few.
Highlights for 3 Days Kidepo National Park.
- Day 1: Pick up from Kampala to Kitgum.
- Day 2: Morning Game drive and afternoon nature walk/cultural encounter
- Day 3: Game drive & Transfer back to Kampala
Day 1: Pickup from Kampala to Kitgum.
Pickup & Transfer to Kitgum: Start your day every early in the morning with breakfast from your hotel in Kampala city. Your will then meet up with your guide at the hotel’s reception area and later start your long road trip to Kidepo Valley National Park. The drive from Kampala to Kidepo national park takes about 10 to 13 hours, hence you will have some stopovers along the way to ease yourself and grab a couple of bites. However, you will spend the night in Kitgum town which is about an 8 hours’ drive from Kampala city.
You will have dinner and an overnight stay in one of the hotels in town.
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo, Morning Game drive and afternoon guided nature walk.
Transfer to Kidepo: Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. You will meet up with your guide and proceed with your transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park in the northeastern part of Uganda. It takes about 2-3 hours driving from Kitgum town to the national park.
Morning Game Drive: Upon your arrival in the park, check into your lodge. Later, you will embark on a morning game drive along the Narus Valley. You will get an opportunity to see lots of wildlife in that area of the park such as; buffalo, giraffes, zebras, elands, oribis, elephants- and even the odd jackal. If you are lucky, you might even spot some of the lions in the park, sitting in “sausage trees” along the Narus Valley. Day game drives in Kidepo valley national park can take several hours between 1-3 or all day depending on what attractions you want to see in the park. Drive back to your lodge for lunch.
Afternoon Guided Nature Walk: After you have had your lunch and relaxed for a while at your lodge, meet up with your guide and head out for a guided nature walk in the park. Take a 2hour guided nature walk along the Narus Valley extending over a 5km radius from Apoka Tourism Center.
Community Cultural Tour (Optional): Alternatively, you can choose to meet members of the IK tribe during prearranged hikes to the Morungole Mountains outside the national park. You will get to watch dance performances from the some of the dance groups in the community and also interact with the friendly locals.
Drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game Drive to Hot springs & Transfer back to Kampala.
Game Drive to hot springs: After having your breakfast, depart on a morning game drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs. These hot springs lie 11km beyond the Kidepo River on Uganda’s border with Sudan. Though the hot springs aren’t the best in the world, they offer breath-taking views of the mountains beyond the frontier. During your game drive, don’t forget to lookout for ostriches and leopard tortoises along the way. Have your packed lunch and head back to Kampala.
Transfer back to Kampala: After your lunch, transfer back to Kampala via Gulu or Kitgum with a few stopovers along the way to ease yourself and stretch your legs. Upon your arrival in Kampala city, have your driver/guide drop you off at any hotel of your choice. Alternatively, you can charter a flight from Kidepo to Entebbe Airport in case your return flight departs later in the night. Please endeavor to inform our team of travel consultants in advance.
