Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Kidepo Wilderness Safari
Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Kitgum
Your guide will pick you up from the airport and begin your Kidepo safari. You’ll have a long day in the car, but you can take in the Ugandan countryside via the windows, which includes communities and local marketplaces. We will arrive at Kitgum town, where you will spend the evening relaxing at your selected hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
Following breakfast, you will continue the final leg of your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. This park is considered one of Africa’s remaining unspoiled wildernesses. You will arrive in the park in time for a game drive before returning to the lodge for lunch. After some rest, you will go on an evening game drive and have the opportunity to observe giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions, and leopards. Following the wildlife drive, your guide will transport you back to the lodge to unwind.
Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Kidepo
Get up early for a morning wildlife drive near the Kanagorok hot springs. If you’re lucky, you could spot ostriches in this region. After lunch, we’ll have a cultural tour to a Karamojong community. Discover how natives live and learn about their culture. After the concert, you will be driven back to the lodge.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Gulu
Wake up in time to have breakfast at your lodge. You will be able to observe friendly locals living in the neighboring communities and also view wildlife as you drive out of the park. Have lunch enroute as you drive to Gulu city. Spend the night in Gulu, Uganda’s second-largest town, then proceed to the hotel to check in.
Day 5: Rhino Sanctuary and Transfer to Kampala
Following breakfast, you begin the trek back to Kampala. Along the trip to Kampala, you will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Masindi where you will be trekking white rhinos in their natural habitat. After the tracking, your guide will transport you to the airport for your flight.
