This 5 Days Volcanoes & Nyungwe National Parks is one of our most selling Rwanda Safari tour packages. Get an opportunity to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park and embark on a community cultural tour to Iby’iwacu Village which is located just outside the national park. You will also get to embark on an adventurous journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will get to do chimpanzee trekking in Cyamudongo Forest, and also take a short hike along Ishigishigi trail to and from the canopy walk bridge.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Volcanoes & Nyungwe National Parks
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes: You will be welcomed by our guide transfer to Kigali city for a short city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial site. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Ruhengeri town for dinner and overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel/ Le Bambou Lodge/Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Ibyi’wacu Village Tour
Gorilla Trekking: Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the ORTPN officials, set off for the gorilla trekking. This experience of gorilla trekking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas.
You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures whose company you will cherish for 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. In the afternoon you may go for an optional village tour for a cultural experience with a resident local guide.
Ibyi’wacu Village Tour: Return for dinner and overnight stay same as above.
Day 3: Golden monkey tracking & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Golden Monkey Tracking: Wake up to an early breakfast and off to the park headquarters for briefing as on day 2 above. Go for Golden monkey tracking; the activity lasts 3 to 4 hours. Return to the lodge where you will freshen up and transfer to Nyungwe forest park with lunch en-route and arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guesthouse/Nyungwe Top Hill View/ Nyungwe One & Only.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking & Canopy Walk.
Chimpanzee Tracking: Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
Canopy Walk: After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka; a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Dinner and overnight same as above.
Day 5: Transfer Back to Kigali and Departure
Transfer Back to Kigali: Have breakfast at leisure from your lodge. Bid farewell to Nyungwe Forest national park and embark on your journey back to Kigali. If the city tour wasn’t possible on the day of arrival, you will have a brief city tour and transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home. End of Rwanda Safari Tour.
