Trip description
Day 1: Kigali city tour with Dian fossey fund museum visit
Meet up with your driver guide on this day, exchange pleasantries, present your negative PCR test and get a briefing on how the next few days will be going. Set out for your Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali genocide memorial grounds and the Kimironko market and after drive further to the Dian fossey fund museum for a visit.
You will arrive in Volcanoes national park Rwanda in the evening, check in and settle in as you wait for dinner and spend your first night in Volcanoes national park.

Day 2: Golden monkey trekking with cultural tour in volcanoes national park
Right after having breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters to attend the morning brief before any activity at the park. Team up with your porters and ranger guides and enter the forest searching for the golden monkeys. Volcanoes national park is one of the parks where gold meets silver; golden monkeys and silverback gorillas stay in the same park.
You will see the monkeys swing from tree branch to tree branch and after exit the park to connect for lunch at your hotel. After lunch when the day has cooled abit, your driver guide will transfer you to the Iby’iwachu cultural center for a cultural treat of and by the Rwandan people. Get back to your hotel in time for dinner and retire anticipating the next day’s activity.
Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park
Wake up for an early breakfast served before you set out to the park headquarters as the day before for the briefing before the gorilla trekking. You will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Mountain gorillas are less active than the monkeys so you will trek for about 2 to 4 hours and come across the gorilla family of the day.
You will spend an hour with the mountain gorilla family you will have trekked that day at a 6 meters distance and after return to your hotel for a late lunch and spend the evening relaxing and watch the sunset in the Virunga ranges. Dinner will be served and you will spend another night in Volcanoes national park.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Wake up at leisure to have breakfast served at the hotel and check out of your hotel and meet your driver guide who will be waiting to transfer you to your next destination; Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is a 2 hour road drive from volcanoes national park. You will arrive in time for lunch at the shores of Lake Kivu.
You will spend the rest of the day engaging in a few activities at the Lake like take on a boat trip, kayaking, swimming or spend the evening at leisure reading a book at the shores. Connect to check in at your hotel in Lake Kivu where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 5: Drive to Nyungwe forest national park
Wake up to a tasty breakfast served at the hotel and pack your bags to check out of the hotel headed for your next destination. Your driver guide will be waiting to set out to Nyungwe forest national park.
Lake Kivu- Gisenyi to Nyungwe forest national park is a 5 hour road transfer so you will have an enroute lunch and connect further to your hotel arriving in the early evening hours. Spend the cold evening settling in as you await for dinner to be served and spend your first night in Nyungwe forest.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park
By 6 am, be setting out to the starting point of the chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest. You will be briefed by the ranger guides and set out into the forest. You will be able to see the chimpanzees swinging from one tree branch to another and their sounds heard from the moment you enter the forest up til when you exit.
Drive back to your hotel for a late breakfast and spend the rest of the morning at leisure. Lunch will be served and you will drive back to the park to take on the canopy walk on the 2 meters long 9 meters high suspended bridge giving you an aerial view of the park. Return to your hotel in time for dinner and spend another night in Nyungwe.
Day 7: Transfer to Akagera national park Rwanda
Pack your bags and connect to the dinning lounge for breakfast prepared at your hotel and check out headed for Akagera national park Rwanda. You will have enroute visits to Butare museum and you will also visit the King’s palace and drive to further via Kigali where you will stop for lunch.
You will arrive in Akagera national park in the evening hours before the park gates are closed. Check into your hotel as you await for dinner to be served.

Day 8: Game drive in Akagera national park and Lake Ihema boat cruise
Have an early breakfast and connect with your driver guide to start your game drive in Akagera national park for a chance with the wildlife like the lions, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, the smaller game like the antelopes. You will drive around the park for about 5 hours and later return to your hotel to have lunch and refresh. After the sun has cooled down, you will connect to Lake Ihema for your evening 2 hour boat ride to see the aquatic animals and a different bird species that can be spotted in Akagera. Return to your hotel for dinner and night stay as the previous night.
Day 9: Morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali
Right after breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and head out for another chance to view the game of Akagera. You will have a brief game drive as you exit the park to get back to Kigali. You may take on the Kigali city tour on this day if time was not on your side the first day.
