Uganda Safaris : Why Visit Uganda
Uganda is located in East Africa and is famously known as the Pearl of Africa because of its stunning and unique natural beauty comprising of beautiful lush vegetation, Savannah grasslands, hills, mountains, national parks, wild animals, birds, lakes and rivers to mention but a few. Uganda was colonized by the British after being discovered by the explorers back then in 1870s. Uganda has quite an interesting history right from the time it was colonized to the time of its independence, the wars that have taken place in the country and so much history. Uganda also has a rich cultural/traditional background it has over 56 different tribes and over 60 languages spoken country wide with English being its official language and Kiswahili joining to be one of the official languages spoken too. Some of the people in Uganda include; The Baganda, Lugbara, Alur, Acholi , Teso, Lango, Bagisu, Banyoro people, Bakiga people, Karamojong, Bahororo, Bagwere, bakonjo people and many others. All the groups of people fall under the four major ethnic groups of the country that include Bantu, Nilotes, Nilo Hamites and the Hamites. All these tribes have a distinctive language, beliefs, cultural norms. Some of the people are organized in Kingdoms and chiefdoms while others are not for example; the Baganda people are organized under Buganda kingdom and has their King known as Kabaka, the Batoro under Toro Kingdom and their King is Known as Omukama, The Basoga people under Busoga Kingdom and ha their King known as Kyabazinga to mention but a few. While on a Uganda Cultural tour/ safari, one can visit the different traditional tourist sites of Uganda such as; Toro Kingdom, Buganda Kingdom, Uganda Museum, Kasubi royal tombs, the Namugongo Uganda Matrys shrine, Bahai temple, to mention but a few. More so, Uganda has around 10 national parks where tourists can visit and the unique thing about these is that each of them has different attractions and individuals can happen to do different activities while visiting each of them and some of these include; Murchison falls national park which is ranked as the largest game park in the country, Queen Elizabeth national park that is the commonly visited game park because of its tree climbing lions, Kibale national park, Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla national park that are famously known for hosting large population of the endangered mountain gorilla species and many others. More so, while exploring within these national parks, there are many adventurous activities that tourists can do and some of these include; boat cruises, bird watching, chimpanzee trekking, canoeing, hiking, guided nature walks, game drives, gorilla trekking, mountain climbing, community visits and cultural encounters and many others.
