This 4 days Nyungwe Chimpanzees and Bwindi Gorilla Trek Safari takes you on an adventure as you explore both Rwanda and Uganda. This tour begins and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. During this 4 days Rwanda and Uganda tour, you will be tracking chimpanzees in Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park and gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 days Nyungwe Chimpanzees and Bwindi Gorilla Trek Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
In the morning, you will be picked by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. You will go to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trek, Canopy Walk and Transfer to Gisenyi.
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then have your packed lunch and later return back to base where you will meet up with your driver guide.
After having your packed lunch, you will embark on a guided nature walk along the famous canopy walkway bridge- a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you there after connect to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. This hike takes only 2 hours. Later meet up with your guide and drive to Gisenyi town. Upon your arrival in Gisenyi, you will check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Optional Morning Boat Ride and Drive to Bwindi National Park.
Have your breakfast in the morning and then meet up with your driver guide. You can choose to do an optional boat ride on Lake Kivu as you explore some of the beautiful islands on the lodge, as well as view a variety of bird species in the area. You will then embark on a 3-4 hours’ drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with lunch en route to your lodge. Upon your arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trek in Bwindi and Drive Back to Kigali.
You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for the briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali.
