During these 4 Days Nyungwe tour in Rwanda, you will track chimpanzees in Nyungwe or Cyamudongo forests and also enjoy guided hikes along the canopy walkway and on Isumo trail. You will also visit Gisakura tea estate for a tea tour and then visit Huye Mountain Co-operative for a coffee tour. Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Nyungwe Tour
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP
In the morning, the driver will pick you up from your Kigali hotel and transport you south to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will stop in Butare to see the Rwandan National Museum and the King’s Palace in Nyanza, with lunch en-route.
Later retire back to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Waterfall Hike and Canopy Walk
Enjoy breakfast before heading to the park’s briefing point. You will next go on a 3- to 4-hour guided trek in Nyungwe forest, exploring one of the park’s 19 nature paths. This walk will take you to one of the park’s most magnificent waterfalls, and you may observe a variety of primates on your journey, including vervet monkeys, black and white colobus, and blue monkeys, among others. If you’re lucky, you might run upon some chimps in the wild. After your climb, you will return to the base where your driver guide will be waiting for you before driving to your lodge/hotel for lunch.
After your packed lunch, you will go on a guided nature walk along the famed canopy walkway bridge, which is a 50-meter-long swing bridge hung from enormous trees. You will be able to observe the spectacular rainforest from a bird’s eye view, witnessing wildlife moving about below you before returning to your hotel to relax for the evening. This hike takes only 2 hours.
Later retire back to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Visit Gisakura Tea Estate
After breakfast, you will visit Gisakura Tea Estate, where you will learn about the tea-making process. You will be given a tour of the large tea plantation and discover how tea is collected, stored, processed, and packaged for home and international markets. You will conclude your journey with a sample of Rwandan-made tea. Later, return to your lodge for lunch and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.
Later retire back to your lodge/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Huye Coffee Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali.
Wake up and eat breakfast at your lodge/hotel. After checking out, you’ll meet your driving guide outside. Today, you will go on a morning coffee tour to Huye Mountain Coffee Co-operative, where you will learn about the coffee-making process in Rwanda, from planting to harvesting, storage, processing, and packaging. Finally, finish your trip with a delicious cup of coffee, and consider purchasing some to help the local community.
You will then proceed with your drive back to Kigali with lunch en-route to the city. Drop-off will be at a hotel of your choice or Kigali international airport as you will advise. End of Tour!
