5 Days Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike in Rwanda is a short safari that has amazing activities like gorilla trekking and the famous Dian Fossey Hike.

DAY 1: Pick up and transfer to Ruhengeri

On Day one of the 5 Days Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike in Rwanda safari, you will be met by our representative who will pick you up from the airport or your preferred location like your hotel. You will be taken for a city tour, where you will visit the Rwanda genocide memorial grounds & some craft shops where you will buy souvenirs. Your driver guide will give you information on the culture and history of Rwanda and its people. You will also have lunch depending on your time of arrival. After Kigali City tour, go on a journey to your hotel nearer to Volcanoes National park the home of these endangered species. On arrival, rest, have dinner and prepare for the trek the next morning.

DAY 2: GORILLA TREK IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.

Wake up to an amazing breakfast very early in the morning. Later on, our guide will take you (make sure to go with packed lunch) to Kinigi Headquarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking safari. The briefing starts at 7.am. After the briefing, continue and go for the trek which will last about 2-6 hours depending on where the gorillas are. On finding the gorillas, take photos, and observe for 1 hour. After that, they will lead you to a place where you can be able to have your packed lunch and then go back to the starting point where you will meet the guide who will take you back to the lodge. If you have time you can then refresh and embark on a community tour. Later return have dinner and rest for the next day’s hike to Karisoke.

DAY 3: DIAN FOSSEY HIKE-KARISOKE

Wake up to another wonderful breakfast and later drive back to the park headquarters. Receive a briefing about the Dian Fossey Hike and later embark on the trek. This trek can last up to 6-7 hours and it’s quite challenging. So pack enough water for yourself. Later explore Karisoke and the Dian Fossey tomb areas and her labs. After return to the lodge where you will have your lunch. Have the evening to yourself doing your own leisure activities.

DAY 4: GOLDEN MONKEY TREK.

Day 4 of the 5 Days Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike in Rwanda safari is a great day to trek the Golden Moneys. You will wake up early to an amazing breakfast after which you will be transferred to the park headquarters. Receive a briefing on the Golden Monkey trekking safari and later set-off on the tracks to search for these unique primates. This trek is less strenuous compared to Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking. It lasts 2 to 5 hours, after which you’ll meet the guide to take you back to the lodge where you’ll have the evening to yourself. If you are feeling energetic, you may go for a cultural tour at Iby’iwachu Cultural Centre and get back to your accommodation before sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 5: TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI.

Conclude this day with breakfast at leisure, and later on, check out of the hotel. Our guide will be waiting to drive you back to Kigali International Airport or any location you will advise in Kigali.
