Activities in nyungwe
Activities in Nyungwe National park include the ventures in which travelers are engaged in to spice up their safari when they reach the national park. Nyungwe National park is situated in the southwest part of Rwanda, bordering Burundi in the south part DRC and Lake Kivu in the west. Nyungwe National park is a Montane rainforest & it is situated in the central part of Africa. Its shed between the River Nile and River Congo.
The park was established in 2004 and it covers an area of about 979 km. The areas land covers swamps, grasslands, rainforest and bamboo. Cyangugu is recorded as the nearest town close to the park inclusive Mount Bigugu which is located by the park borders. The distance by road to the park premises from Kigali town is about 4-6 hours.
Nyungwe Forest National park inhabits a number of animal species, tree species, bird species, plantation, primates, reptiles and many more. The main Tourist activities in the forest is Chimpanzee trekking and the amazing canopy walk.
Other Activities in Nyungwe forest include: bird watching, trekking golden monkeys, viewing butterflies close to you in the sky and nyungwe forest nature walks. During nature walks in the forest, one can have a chance to see the golden monkeys in the forest.
Nyungwe Forest is an amazing hiking haven with of 15 various trials taking about 150 kilometers of trails in the forest. There are various trails to explore in the forest and one needs to be physically fit to hike through the rain forest.
Hiking gives you an opportunity to see the primates, flowers, plants, trees, primates, birds, plants, bottles, wildlife, and many more.
Chimpanzee trekking; Chimpanzee trekking is an added activity to your Gorilla trekking safaris in the Volcanoes National park. The distance between the two is very short and affordable. It’s one of the most selling activities in Nyungwe National park and rwanda at large. On your chimpanzee trekking safari you will need to wear the long sleeved shirts, hats, boots, long trousers and carry water during the trek. You will be grouped into a total number of 8 people and the chimpanzees are already habituated meaning they are trained to be close to human beings.
Nyungwe Forest inhabits about 14 primate species which can be sighted and can be added to your safari as primates walk safari.The Ruwenzori white colobus monkey, grey cheeked mangabey can be spotted. Other primates include Blue monkeys, Mona monkey, Owl faced monkey, L’Hoest Mountain Monkey.
