Nyungwe National Park Safari
Nyungwe National Park Safari is a great tour that can be engaged in by travelers from across the world. The location of the park is in the southwest part of Rwanda and it borders Burundi in the south and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west. Nyungwe National park was found as a world heritage site and established in 2004, covering an area of approximately 980km2 of biodiversity such as the swamps, grasslands, bamboo and many more. Cyangugu is one of the nearest towns at the park covering approximately 55 km to the west. Mount Bigugu is also located at the park borders.

Nyungwe Forest has an altitude of about 3000 meters above sea level.

Take a safari to Nyungwe forest and enjoy a hiking safari. There are over 15 Nyungwe Forest hiking trails, covering over 130 kilometers of the Forest trails in the forest. During these trails you will explore more about the park and study the nature. It may take 1 to 9 hours, however you need to be physically fit to take on these trails. Chimpanzee trekking is one of the safari activities to encounter in Nyungwe Forest and it’s an additional safari to Gorilla trekking. The chimpanzee safari starts early morning and the time it takes is unpredictable. It can take about 30 minutes to 7 hours. One needs to put on long sleeved cloths, boots, jackets and hats. The safari chimpanzee takes maximum 8 people in a group.
Monkey safari is another activity that you can engage in on a Nyungwe National Park Safari where you will explore about 15 species of primates in the wilderness during your safari in Nyungwe forest. Birding safaris; Nyungwe Forest national park, has over 400 bird species and 30 of them are known as the endemic to the Albertine rift such as the Grauer warbler which can be seen in Kamiranovou which is with the Nyungwe forest. Find the Blue Turaco and Rwenzori Turaco, purple breasted, blue headed sunbird that are seen in flowering trees.
